Had an 11 hour flight recently and this little guy came in real handy. I filled a couple of DVD's with divx movies and tv shows and the time flew bye. The battery is really good and I am getting around 3 to 4 hours out of it... much better than my other player and most other players out there. I would recommend another battery if you do plan long journeys.
Picture is great and so is the sound, even comes with 2 sets of headphones and a double head phone socket. The in car charger has also come in handy.
It plays everything I have thrown at it, almost any .avi I have downloaded.
What a deal.

This is a brilliant DVD player - I've had it for about a month and used it while away on holiday with the family - My 3 year old enjoyed using it to watch her DVDs meanwhile we could watch the TV in peace! As some other reviewers state it's very sleek and lightweight - no need to select play functions e.g. whether DVD or CD or NTSC - you can set it to an auto setting - Picture quality is Exceptional! - sound quality is quite good too (there are various sound settings) - although I think this would depend on the individual taste - Couple of downfalls... When you're playing a CD I wish you could set it that the screensaver would come so you don't have a bright blue screen for start to end of CD - especially if you want to listen to it with the lights off and eventually go to sleep! the other downfall is minor - the operating sounds are a bit loud e.g. when you put a disk in you get these loud clicking sounds but its bearable as it only last for a few seconds. I would recommend this player to any one! and oh yes the free travel case is of good quality also and you can use it to mount the player on the head rest in a car - along with the car adapter it comes with - Fantastic Machine!

Having Researched DVD Player for a few months now I finally decided the Shinco SDP-1250 was the one for me.
I have not been disappointed
The Shinco has a high quality finish the screen has good viewing angles ideal if there is 2-3 viewers ignore the previous bad reviews I bought 4 player s which I donated to a local Children's home which I work at.
So far there hasn't been any problem the kids Love it and are constantly using them and there hasn't been any sign of wear and tear. The controls are so simple to use and it simple to set up literally insert the disk attached the battery unit and away you go
You also get extras - two sets of earphones which give quality sound and an analogue to scart adapter which I can use to connect to the TV. This is something which I found the other players lacking.
The battery gives well over 3 hrs continuous play which is good for 10" player
The remote is a very slim and has many functions.
Without changing settings the Shinco is Multi Region out of the box I have tried everything I mean everything.
This player has a unique advantage of having AV IN socket which allows the kids to plug it into there Play station and can be plugged into a Video camera
It also has a SD/Media slot for pictures from a Digital Camera PLUS a USB slot which can be used for a Flash drive for playing anything you have on it MP3's,JPEG's or MPEG.
Overall i would reccomend this player to everyone.

I have spent a lot of time looking very closely at as many portable DVD players screens and this - by far - is the best. Do you notice the very distracting horizontal lines that appear to scroll down the screen like scan lines or something - well you get that on virtually ALL portable screens but not this one. I've had a look at all of Shincos current models and unfortunately they too suffer from this line scanning problem - all except the SDP-1250 and the slightly more expensive SDP-1280 which has a swivel screen. Put simply the Shinco SDP-1250 is the only portable DVD player you'll ever need! Buy one.
Synchronisation problems - 25 Aug 2006

The design and size of the player made this one very attractive, with it's multifunction facilities and it coming complete with carry case/car adapters. However, within a few days it became apparent that the player was not synchronising sound and vision correctly - with this being as much as half a second out on some discs. I had a replacement from Amazon (excellent service from these guys!) but that not only had the same problem, but had another with the display brightness/contrast - it randomly flickered to full brightness. Whilst others have had a good experience, it appears to be a bit hit or miss as to what you get and from my perspective the failure of sound/vision synchronisation is a basic problem, possibly due to the technology or software in the player itself.
