Worked perfectly straight away for me. No problems with the set-up at all and the wireless connection is fine. Easy to use and great sound.
Good sound quality but very flawed product - 22 Aug 2007

I bought this from a major electrical retailer at a much higher price than Amazon, so if price is your thing then Amazon's is excellent.
The software has been updated since the previous reviews and now allows scrolling by letter - which will allow you to find a track much quicker. It is also certifed Vista compatible.
I found sound quality to be excellent, but there is one massive flaw - sound skipping or dropouts. If you visit logitech on the web and look at the forums, you'll see this is a MAJOR issue for many purchasers. The unit's bluetooth signal is very easily affected by WiFi, by cordless phones, by baby-monitors and everything else that uses the 2.4MHz band. Some users found the sound being interrupted every couple of seconds. After a lot of trial-and-error, I managed to avoid this.
The next major issue is that the receiver unit has no buffer at all. Let me repeat that - no buffer at all. What that means is that if there is an error in transmission, you will have a gap in your music. I found that this equated to a second of silence every three minutes or so (on a core 2 duo system at 2GHz with 2MB of memory doing the streaming over a distance of 3m with no walls in the way). It might not sound a lot but - believe me - if you love music it's really irritating!
The unit streams sound from Windows Media Player (it only mentions 9 and 10 and much of the logitech site has dwnloads that only work with 9 and 10 although they do claim Vista compatibility) or from I-Tunes. It's pretty clunky in operation, though, and if you have a large music library, you'll spend quite a bit of time waiting for the very amateurishly programmed logitech streampoint interface to index everything.
The logitech forums are full of people complaining about these issues, plus one other - quality control. A significant number of units (mine included) just stop working without warning. My vista systems then all refused to recognise the bluetooth transmitter as a logitech product, but instead saw it as a Broadcom Bluetooth device, and refused to go further. This is mentioned by other users on logitech's support. Logitech have a product returns system already set up for this item, which suggests they receive quite a few back.
Now I know that all sounds very negative - and I guessit is. Trouble is I did SO much want to love the product. It looks great, with a really cool blue backlight and aluminium components (though the handset scratches very easily) and when it works, the sound is much better than (for example) the Philips Streamium. It just seems like a half-finished product - the support forums are clogged with comments from people - like me - who tried hard to use a product whose looks they loved, but in the end had to give up.
Logitech - Wireless DJ Music System - 28 Apr 2007

Most of my music collection has been ripped to my pc, so I've been looking for a way to listen to my music collection in another room. Then I came across the Logitech DJ Music System.
What you get in the box, a sender which is connected to your pc via USB connection, a receiver and cable that is connected to your Hi Fi/ amplifier, a remote control and a CD. Once the CD is installed and all devices has been connected, the remote shows your music collection, which you scroll through by Artist, Album or Tracks. The system is excellent and was very easy to install.
If you are looking for a way to listen to the music you have on you pc, Logitech DJ Music System is a quick and easy, and it works.
Great item with just a few flaws - 24 Jan 2007

This is the kind of gadget that I had been waiting to come along for ages. As I have quite a large MP3 collection, but dont have the money for a Sonos or space for a mediacentre PC, this is a really good solution. It looks great, is a piece of cake to setup and the sound quality is perfect. However there are a few issues which might put people off:
1. The range isnt great, so if you have a big house and your PC and stereo are at opposite ends of it, you may struggle to get skip free music.
2. As this is bluetooth, it interferes with wireless networking connections (as bluetooth and wifi share the same frequency band). In order to get a good wifi connection from my wireless router, I have to completely disconnect the dj transmitter from my PC, which is a pain as it often has to search for the remote again when I reconnect it.
3. If you have a very large MP3 collection, searching your tracks can be very time consuming. For example, I have over 700 separate artists in my collection (sounds like a lot but not when you consider that a double compilation album will have up to 40 artists on it). So if I want to search my tracks by artist, and find someone starting with the letter T, I have to scroll through almost the whole alphabet of artists to get there, which takes aaaages. And you cant scroll backwards through the alphabet either (eg. scrolling back from A to get to Z), so if you're looking for an artist beginning with the letter Z, you'll have to scroll through every artist in your collection to get there.
As these issues effect me quite badly, I probably wouldnt have bought this if I'd known about them. But if you are unlikely to be effected by these problems, then this is definately the gadget for you. There isnt a single media player out there that can compete with this in terms of price and looks, but if you want to hold out for the perfect unit, or you can afford a media PC or Sonos (!), then I'd give it a miss.

I agree with all from the previous reviewer and even as a keen Hi Fi enthusiast I am only using the supplied cable to connect the receiver to the amp. The sound quality is superb, there are no grounds for concern on that front. The scroll wheel....ah yes, it is painfully slow if you have a long list. Hopefully an update will allow some form of acceleration just like on the i-pod during rapid scrolling. However once your playlists are organised you can pretty much avoid the problem. This is a tidy solution it works well and does what it says on the tin. Even with the shortcomings it is still worth 5 stars. Just buy it!
