iv only had mine for a week now but my god its good . the standard def picture is razor sharp especially if the program you are watchin was made recently eg Torchwood . settings took a bit of fiddling but once they are done away you go. have not tried proper hd other than dvd upscaling but as the standard lookd very good i imagine the hd will be mind bendingly good. in summery , get one, get one now!
Superb TV worth Every Penny - 24 Feb 2008

After looking at various makes, and reading reviews, I was torn between this 40V3000, and the more expensive W3000, but, having read a detailed technical review on hdtvtest.co.uk, there were only 2 minor differences between them.
Having plumped for the V3000, I am delighted with the sound, picture and over all performance of this TV, especially on HD. It is a brilliant detailed picture with superb sharp images. Incidentally, on the website mentioned above, the professional tester calibrated the W3000 for the best possible picture, and the settings on the website apply equally to the V3000. I can fully recommend them.
The TV was delivered in a box at my door, and left for me to install. Although not very technical, I had very few problems, although wiring up my DVD player & home cinema system, plus a VCR, and the Sky HD box took a day or two to get right.
Sony Future-proof TV. - 16 Feb 2008

I recently bought this television having had to replace my old 28 inch widescreen tv. Digital pictures are stunning and DVD just as good. We did our research and compared screens - the Sony had the best picture by far. Normal sound is better than some reviews but I have a Sony 5.1 system. If you can, get the Bravia Theatre compatible surround system. Have not got any HD or Blue Ray devices yet but looking to upgrade to Sky HD soon. If you want a quality picture that will last a few years this is the one to go for. Easy to set up and, unlike some HD Tvs will actually auto change to sky. Two very minor quibbles - seems to take a while (ok 2 seconds) to change channels and its now £100 cheaper than I paid three weeks ago.
Buy It.
Great for HD beware SD - 11 Jan 2008

This a great TV for PS3 and Bluray stunning picture quality and usual sony quality build. However I will recommend caution if you are only using this for SD viewing the picture quality is not as great as my Hitachi 32 inch LCD probably due to the fact of the larger screen. Some channels fare better than others on my sky + box. Will probably upgrade to sky hd now to get full benefit. With that in mind and the fact that there is no swivel on the stand I will give this 4 stars but would be five if Hd only. Please also be aware that the home delivery network do not deliver weekends despite amazon saying they do.
A 1,400 pound Full HD TV set, from Sony, for 899?? Never I hear you say! Well here it is!! - 29 Dec 2007

This TV is a must get if you are preparing for the future digital switch. Not only does it have an inbuilt digital receiver, but it also is Full HD Ready (1080dp). Sony have told me that Full HD is only available in sets that are 40" or above. The recommended retail price for this item (and this is from Sony) is 1,399 pounds - therefore a TV of this calibre for 899 and from Sony - need I say anything more!! If you are looking to buy a set that is ready for the future, buy THIS ONE! Excellent quality and excellent value for money.
