Great for HD Contents - So so for analogue - 06 Feb 2006

Just set up my new Sharp, and was at first a bit disappointed.
Picture quality wasn't very good with regular broadcasts.
A bit of tweaking the sharpness down and setting the colours and backlight settings made it pretty good, but still not as good as a good old fashioned tv. On an Xbox and PS and DVD (over Scart, SVHS and compoent) the picture is just brilliant.
So, all in all a great set for a good price. But you NEED to tune it for analogue signals, or it will not look good.

unfortunately as pointed out by other reviews High Definiton signal will not come to our homes for a little while. So this tv although great for HD signals it does not work well with standard definiton signals, you can see all the bad details that aren't viewable on a SD tv but that is only because the tv has a definiton of higher details. so if u r looking to invest for the future HD signal this tv is perfect, i plugged in my new HD xbox and the difference is breathtaking, crystal clear, sharp like u've never seen before picture

If you have a HD high def DVD this is a splendid TV. If you have FreeView and regular DVD's then don't bother with it. Go and buy Sharps LC32P50 which is optimiesed for SD pictures. I've had both and the P50 is way way better. I'm only giving this 3 stars because it's stunning with HD remember most of us won't have free HD for at least 5 years why watch poor pictures for the next 5 years.
