A great buy - 07 Jun 2007

After purchasing a ps3 i went searching for an hdtv for my bedroom. I looked at most tv's and by far i found this to be superior. This tv was far cheaper than most and when i recieved my tv i was immediatly impressed with the look of it. It looks great and so does the picture. The HD picture is fantastic on a console and after 2 weeks im still amazed at its quality.
I also noticed the huge amount of inputs at the back, it has even more than i expected on a 23" tv. I was used to playing on a smaller tv but it still looks big for its screen size. The only problem with this tv is it sound which but that can easily be sorted with a decent set of 2.1 speakers (though once you have had it for a while you don't really notice it). Overall i am extremely impressed with this tv i would recommend it to anyone searching for a second tv for a bedroom/kitchen.

Great tv but cannot use this for dual screen on a pc - 29 May 2007

I have a dual screen setup for my pc, but my dell lcd tv/ moitor blew so I decided to buy a new one. As a tv its great I have no complaints. But connection wise for a pc it only has a d-sub VGA connector and no DVI. My has both connections which is why i managed to have a dual screen setup, but adding the samsung means that i cannot use my other smaller remaining lcd monitor. i have tried several ways of fising the problem but it will not work. I even purchased an d-sub to dvi adapator but have been unsuccessful. I don't understand why samsung didnt put a dvi connection in place, as they are widely used.

My primary aim of purchase was so i could use it for my pc and work more effectively with two screens, i cannot do this however, which is the reason for my giving 3 stars

Samsung i salute your tvs not your reliability - GREAT SET - 17 Apr 2007

Having got this t.v christmas 2006 as a bedroom set to go with my xbox 360 and i can say it is a great set, happily accepting 720p and 1080i signals via my xbox 360. It must be the first tv ive seen to crack the "bedroom market" of people who want a hd ready set to accomadate their xbox 360 or ps3 however dont have the space for large screens. That said the hd picture is outstanding and definitely noticeable, however the novelty of hd soon wears off when your eyes get used to it.It is funny watching standard def stuff after using a hd dvd player with it, you'll never accept standard definition pictures again because you'll get so used to the clarity of hd.
I was also suprised by the number of connection slots it had on the back, perfect for if you have a lot of other electrical items you want to use with it.
So the tv has outstanding pictures and good connectivity but the sound.... is less outstanding. It sounds very hollow and extremely quiet and i think this is mainly down to the hidden position of the speakers. Due to them being situated under a groove on the bottom of the set the sound cant really escape and get around the whole room which like i said gives it a hollow and quiet sound. However a decent sound system will soon solve this as im sure you dont want to watch hd without dolby digital too?
My final gripe is the build quality which really p****d me off being it cost £420. It lasted merely a month before mysteriously breaking down for no reason. Though i cant let that get me down as i got it replaced and my current one is still going strong. Apparently the first one had a manufacturing fault.

Anyway log story short:
picture - AWESOME
sound - acceptable
connectivity - GREAT
bulid quality - good (ill forget about the faulty tv as that wasnt the tvs fault)

MY ADVICE, IF YOU WANT A GOOD BEDROOM SET TO ACCOMPANY THE LATEST IN HD READY CONSOLES, GET THIS! THOUGH WITH 1080P ON ITS WAY YOU SHOULD THINK HARD AS THIS LOOKS EVEN BETTER, (JUST REMEMBER BETTER = LOTS MORE MONEY)

It would be childish not to. - 14 Apr 2007

Ok, evrybody else has done the hard work and they've all given accurate descriptions. I've not seen this running with an HD source yet. Some DVD's do tend to blur a little during fast motion but this seems to be due to a poor quality DVD print. On a good DVD print such as the remastered 2001: a space odessy the picture is absolutely stunning. PS2 played through scart is very good but through component input it's fantastic. Refresh rate is 60hz not 50 as shown on specs above and contrast ratio is 3000:1.

Sound - a bit disappointing for about 5 minutes.
Solution - get yourself a 2.1 surround sound system for about £[...] mine is made by 4GAMERS (now upgraded to a logitech 2.1 63 watt) and plug it in to the headphone socket at the back. It will now sound incredible.

I'll be running my PC through this when I get it next week. the PC input is a VGA blue socket by the way.

I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like running DVD's and TV from my PC and I'll post accordingly.

Mine was £375 and I'm very, very happy with it. I researched TV's for about 4 months before buying and quickly came to the conclusion that Samsung would be best despite my previous bias against them because of their phones. This one was inside my price range and is the right size for what I need it for.

Mine has freeview box, PS2, Dreamcast, DVD player running through it and will have a PC next and a PS3 soon and it still has sockets to spare. I've never seen so many inputs as on Samsungs.

EDIT 09/09/07: Having used my PC with this as a monitor, I was blown away by it. I'm running an Intel core 2 duo e6420 overclocked to 2.9 Ghz with 2 Gb of RAM, 320Gb Samsung HDD, an evga 8800GTS 640Mb superclocked GFX card, ASUS 7131 hybrid TV card and a Samsung Writemaster DVD player/writer.

The quality of image is superb in DVD, TV through the PC card and PC games - STALKER looks incredible but as a PC gaming monitor, the limitations of a 1360x768 (in PC mode it doesn't use 1366 pixels) only become apparent when you stop and scrutinise the overhead pylon cables but in game, the response time is great, no ghosting in any PC functions just excellent picture quality. Films are a real pleasure to watch on this. I'll be posting additionally when I've run a HD source through it- ie Blu-Ray/PS3. At the moment, I'd still give this a total thumbs up but shop around for the best prices.

Fantastic HD TV! The slick black finish looks even better in real life than it does in the pictures. It is the most beautiful TV i've ever seen. The size is good, ideal for having in a bedroom / kitchen, although a bit small for a living room. It is easy to assemble and setup. The picture quality is excellent and enhances the quality of digital television and gaming consoles. Once fitted with an HD cable and console (in my case the PS3), it is truly amazing. Words cannot describe how awesome it. The resolution and colour are perfect. The sound is fine, but due its speakers facing downwards (at the bottom of the tv), the sound is maybe as not as good as when the speakers blast outwards. However the sound quality is still good.

This is an ideal TV for anyone buying it for use with an XBOX / PS3. I rate this TV 5 out of 5 stars.
