Great when it works! - 21 Mar 2007

I Have owned one of these sets since November 06 and was until recently very happy with it. Picture and sound quality are great, and unlike some reviews here I have had no problems with Freeview, at least not since I had a proper aerial upgrade. Neither have I had any problems with connectivity to an external DVD/HD recorder. However, I have just had to return mine for repair due to a screen fault. I switched on this morning and had sound but no picture. Just to rub salt into the wound, I phoned the Philips support centre, which by the way is a premium rate number, and after holding for around ten minutes at my cost, I was told that they do not send a courier to collect faulty TV's under a 26" screen size unless the customer pays for the transit insurance! Deciding that I could not be bothered with the hassle and the extra cost of arranging transit insurance, and coupled with having to wait in for couriers to arrive, I decided to return the TV to the repair centre myself, a round trip of nearly 200 miles. Fortunately I had the time to do this, but still had to bear the cost of the fuel myself. So in summary, a great TV when it works, but just beware that if you do have problems a free warranty repair isn't exactly free! Having said that, the staff at the repair centre were extremely helpful. Hopefully it will be back in a few days in full working order.

phillips 26" - 23 Feb 2007

After days of deliberating over various styles and makes, ordered this tv on friday night got it delivered free on thursday, fantastic looking tv, very easy to install, great picture, set it up to your own preferences, only thing is the cable is very short, but that is my only gripe, would recommend it, for a small room, lacking in space. Already got a 32" and needed a 26" for a small sitting room. So far so good, and the kids love it.

Excellent TV - But not happy with the Freeview! - 04 Dec 2006

Have had my TV for just under a year and I absolutely love it. The Picture quality is stunning and the sound quality is excellent. There are so many features that I enjoy about the it, like being able to change the type of picture from soft to rich, the sound from stereo to dolby surround, to being able to adjust the size of the picture. Being able to adjust the picture and move it around is brilliant especially when adjusting it to watch sub-titled films. Watching DVD's is like a mini cinema experience.

The only thing I have to grumble about is the Freeview which cuts out intermittently and then comes back after a few seconds and it seems to me it only happens on certain channels more than others and at certain times of the day, not quite sure what going on with it. At the moment I'm trying to arrange for it to be sorted out on the warranty. Can any let me know it they are having the same problem and if and how they got it sorted out.

But apart from the Freeview problems - I love the TV and thought it was defiantly a good buy.

Excellent value for money - with a few minor niggles - 19 Jul 2006

This TV offers excellent value for money. It is very stylish, and offers a crisp and clear picture when used with a digital source (either the built in freeview tuner, or an external source such as Sky or DVD).

The analogue picture is rubbish (although this may be down to poor reception where I live, but my other TVs are fine). I have also experience some of the other niggles described below, such as no picture when the TV is switched on from standby. However, once it is up and running it is fine.

If you have an HD video source then be prepared to be blown away - it is simply stunning. I have plugged in my HD video camera and played back some home footage and it is flawless.

It is a pity that Philips don't iron out this sort of thing before going into production, as this is what makes an otherwise 5-star product slightly less than perfect.

great TV ..but having intermitent switch on problem - 15 Jul 2006

The TV was a gift Dec 2004 which we were blown away with after having an OLD 25 inch Sony for years
Ongoing problem with no picture at switch on is annoying and it has spent over 5 weeks in service shop trying to define the fault ....is this common ?? I need to switch off supply and restart to get it to fire ??
When it is going it is an excellent TV Now owning it over 12 months I hope Philips continue to nail this problem on warranty
