Mini Cinema - 15 Dec 2007

I bought this one for my bedroom after waving goodbye to a reliable Philips TV/DVD Combi which had without warning packed up in November. It's like a mini cinema in there now! The screen seems huge, even though it's only 15". It's very stylish and makes my room look great. It has no trouble playing any Freeview or DVDs. One thing I would say is that when you really look up close the picture suddenly becomes very blurry, but I expect this is just LCD Technology. Other than that I can't fault it. A definite recommendation for the kitchen or bedroom. It also has a PC input which I find extrememly helpful after my Samsung 17" Syncmaster CRT PC Monitor went bust a few weeks ago. The surround sound is also brilliant. Finding it hard to fault this TV.

Good TV, except for the picture. - 05 Aug 2007

I had this TV in the kitchen until recently. Initially, I only used my analogue signal, which has no grain on the lounge TV, however on this TV the picture was very grainy. It was better for digital reception once I bought a Freeview receiver. I decided that I wasn't happy with all the space the set-up took up as well as all the cables (2 power cords, aerial leads, SCART lead etc.) so I've recently replaced it with a 15" Sony Bravia LCD which has an inbuilt digital tuner. The picture on that TV is superb - both analogue and digital. This proved to me that the Philips was adding grain to the analogue signal. So, my advice is that if you're quite picky over picture quality, steer clear of this TV. Other than that, it works perfectly well: the sound is loud and clear and it has lots of useful connections. However, with the digital switchover just ahead I would recommend spending your money on a TV with inbuilt Freeview instead. It will save you both money and space.

Not A Tele To Watch - 10 Jun 2007

Poor, poor picture. Despite endless fiddling with the very neat remote, the picture still maintained an over-red bias and any BBC News programme was aaargh. Pity. A well designed, stylish piece of kit with good sound quality and ease of use. Some nice features, too - but, not a tele to watch. And we were shocked by the power drain (ibid).
The Maestro.

Good sound - Poor picture - 17 Apr 2007

Very poor picture - I tried it on different (good) aerials, Philips Freeview box, and a Philips DVD player, but it is always a poor picture. Even with the DVD player, I get ghosting. The only way the picture is watchable is to sit a really, really long way away...! Good sound though.

Good telly but the standby power......... - 16 Apr 2007

If you want a LCD telly this is absolutely fine. Hangs on the wall with two screws too.

However put the power meter on and it uses 7 watts on standby with the LED on RED. Press the switch on the top so that it is supposedly off (LED is now off) and it STILL consumes 7 watts. I would have thought better of philips.
