Your Cookoo to buy Daewoo! - 04 Jan 2008

The Daewoo DF4150 despite very little use broke beyond repair just 14 months after purchase! The DVD refusing to function at all beyond the opening and closing of the disc drawer. During the 14 months I used the machine I found the creation of DVD chapters/menus very difficult the procedure being non-logical at best. The menu screens created looked very basic and amateurish. The instruction manual was poorly written and of little help. The picture quality from VHS tape recorded onto DVD was average to poor, this I suspect being due to the poor quality of the VHS components i.e. tape heads etc. Their was also a great deal of excessive on screen noise on the play back of VHS tapes. This Daewoo has had its day!

Daewoo DF4150 Sucks - 13 Oct 2007

I have read all the review on this lemon and can agree with most comments, good when it wanted to work but bad when it did'nt. It stopped recording on DVD and even eraused discs after recording, takes an age to start up,i have to press start walk away for 10 mins press off, then play and 30 secs later it should come on.Sent the machine to only authorised repair dealers in Cornwall to be told it would cost about £200 to have a new chip board or something like that, basicly useless. Now only good enough as grainy VHS recorder or DVD player not what i got it for. Oh and the repair shop said Daewoo knew about these faults with the software but are prepared to do diddly, THANKS Daewoo and -V- who i bought it from.

Top Quality DVD/VHS Recorder - 04 Oct 2007

1 have owned one if these units for over 12 months now and haven't had any problems, its very user friendly, it took less that 10 mins to set up. The DVD recording picture quality gets abit dodgy if you record from SKY/Digital and go over SP, for copying VHS,Analogue tv or B&W you cant use the full SLP.

The only thing that annoys me about this is that it takes about 3 weeks to start up so if you every see yourself on TV and think "I'll record that"..........Don't even think about using this. As i have SKY+ this isn't an issue for me but it may be for others.

Definitely highly recomended though.

Unfortunately the machine failed after about 2 weeks, I received a full refund from ITs Supplies whose response and service was exemplary to the extreme. Not so from Daewoo!

fairly reliable; easy to use - 09 Feb 2007

I really like this combi. It can play most of my old VHS tapes (ok, some now skip a bit but they have been recorded on lots of different equipment over the years) including those in NTSC format.

Copying - black and white tapes copy ok in all formats down to SLP, but for colour I would recommend going no further than EP. There were a few problems with DVD+R discs being wiped at the point of finalising (a known bug I believe) but in the main it has been able to cope.

And I have been able to make it region free to play US DVDs as well (curiously it could cope with regions 4 and 6 without me doing anything, but needed to be made region free to cope with those from the US).

Easy to use menus ... one word of warning though, it doesn't seem to be able to cope with multiple recordings across formats (for example leaving three timer recordings, the first and last for DVD and the second for VHS). Learned this one the hard way!

A nice item, recommended both for viewing VHS and DVD, and for copying VHS or DVD or copying direct from TV.
