Looking at the current reviews it seems it's 50:50 if yours works well - mine didn't. Playback is superb but I had the same problems as Bohemiansir with sticking playback on DVD's recorded on this machine. I have tried many makes and types of top quality discs but 1/3 of recordings are useless.
The worst aspect is that after numerous emails & letters to Sony asking for help and then my money back, I have received not a word. I have always rated Sony gear... but not any more.

Absolutely brilliant. Dual format recording & playback. Perfect picture. It sounds like other reviewer (bohemiansir) doesn't know how to use it properly. I've had mine for 12 months with perfect usage. No problems whatsoever. Highly recommended. You can't buy better than Sony!

dont touch it, it wont play discs that it has recorded itself. i am no fool with electronics and this is a seriously inferior bit of kit. reviews elsewhere confirm my views. after ten mins of playing discs it sticks and jumps. i have lost 30 discs of archived material that can not be found again.
DO NOT BUY I DONT WANT YOU TO BE DISAPPOINTED LIKE ME.
