5 Reviews for Philips - DVDR7250H - DVD Recorder
Poor, poor, poor... - 27 Jan 2008

Things I find wrong with mine:
1. Painfully slow menus
2. Slow DVD loading times
3. Crashes randomly
4. Large & noisy
5. Did I mention painfully slow...?
Wish I could smash it up to bits, but I can't really afford a new one just yet.
Leave well alone - 03 Dec 2006

Had two of these. First one died after three weeks - it just powered itself off and never came back. The second one was pretty much DOA - displayed 'Starting...' but never started.
Apart from that, it was easy enough to set up, but the user interface was not intuitive and the remote control response time was painfully slow.
ONE BOX TO FIND THEM, ONE BOX TO BIND THEM & IN THE FRONT ROOM USE THEM - 14 Nov 2006

I think this unit is good. I'm a confirmed Apple Mac user and had considered just putting another Mac in the front room with a DVB Tuner card in it. I might still do this, but for different reasons now. The rest of the family don't embrace all the new technology and this is a BETTER DOMESTIC type solution. I like them so much, I bought 3 - but please note, I have a self interest as I'm now selling the other two units on here at a special price. I do like these unit though and even at full price would recommend.
The dual tuner is useful in areas not yet getting a full digital service. It seems to play anything I put in it from my collection. Bags of Hard Drive space, yielding plenty of digital recording time. As a Apple Mac user I like my kit to look good and this meets that criteria as well.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU WANT CUSTOMER SUPPORT - 02 Aug 2006

I bought this DVD recorder 3 weeks ago and had major problems setting it up and I could not get video plus to work. When I looked on the Phiips web site for help this model is not even listed. I then phoned their customer support but the person who took my call couldn't help at all. He told me someone would call back the following day, nobody called. I called them again and was told the person who was supposed to call me had passed the problem back, and the person who answered couldn't help again. I just happened to have the cable company in the following day and the engineer told me that video plus does not work with (Telewest) cable. I wish someone had told me that before I bought this machine, that's a lot of money just to pause live tv!
Philips DVD7250H - 07 Jul 2006

Not recommended. I had 2 of these units, both failed with the same problem inside of 4 weeks. They just turned themselves off and would not restart until the power was disconnected for 5 minutes. The user interface was painfully slow on both units - I ended up pressing buttons twice because I thought it hadn't worked the first time. Loading a DVD took between 30 seconds and a minute. One star for the guideplus system, but you can get that on other recorders. So I got a refund and bought a Sony instead for £100 less.
