if you are looking for an upscaling player, on a budget and cannot afford a PS3 or the latest Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player then look no further.
This Sony rocks! the picture (and also audio if you consider investing on the latest surround sound kit. mine is a "plain" 2.1 setup and still it feels like im on a cinema!) is amazing. read: "near Blu-ray" quality. i can tell because i have a Sony 1080p LCD. end of story. this is my 4th dvd player in 4 years and my first Sony. this is every penny's worth. you will not be disappointed. throw in a ver. 1.3 HDMI cable and you are done. the only reason i gave it a 4 out 5 is because the settings/features can be fiddly and takes time to learn all the tech terms and stuff. but overall...THE BEST UPSCALING 1080P DVD PLAYER ON THE PLANET. nothin' compares Sony. just sit back, relax and enjoy the popcorn.
