I own this product, I bought it for my bedroom to match the black Samsung 26" LCD TV I have. This player is amazing, it plays everything and the picture quality is superb. I would recommend this player to anyone.

This is my first real DVD player (my last one was £12) It looks fantastic under my lcd tv and the image quality is just fantastic! Especially with the HDMI output! The sound is as other people have said (Adrian) is amazing and it plays everything especially when you make it region free with its own remote! This is a five star product and worth every penny of the £99 i paid! Hope you enjoy it as much as me.

This is a great machine for for everything except HD-DVD's.
It just wont play them! Samsung have confirmed it is only suitable for upscaling standard DVD's and have admitted they don't yet have a genuine HD-DVD player on the market.
A very effective DVD player - 13 Jan 2006

I don't usually write reviews for hardware or electrical goods, so please bear with me if this review seems pretty basic. But as a pretty fussy DVD viewer I thought I would offer my thoughts on why this is a great DVD player.
First of all, it plays everything - and I mean everything. All my DVDs and DVDr copies played with no problems, even some that could not be read by cheaper DVD players. Note that this player can also be very easily (and permanently) converted to multi-region just by using the remote...search on the web and you can find out how. I did it in 20 seconds and never needed to touch it again (although it is reversible). Now it plays all my Region 1 DVDs just as beautifully as my UK ones.
But even more impressively - and this is why I bought it - this machine can also play video clips that you may have stored on your computer. Just transfer your mpeg, avi, DivX or wma movie files onto a disc and this little beauty will play them on your TV like magic - no need to worry about burning or converting them to DVD format ever again. What a find. It's also capable of playing output suitable for High Definition televisions, but I have not got one so I have no idea how that works. It's also pretty small and operates smoothly. The remote has loads of functions. You can zoom in on a picture if you think it's not filling up your screen properly, although this is limited to two fixed enlargements, along with a setting that can vertically stretch a letterbox shaped film to fill the screen - don't think I'll ever use that one! The only thing I would have liked is an option to zoom OUT, and display the whole image smaller on the screen (don't ask me why but I once had a DVD player that did this and I quite liked it), but that function has not been included.
I hope this helps potential buyers. This isn't the cheapest multi-region player out there, but with the features I described, you really do get your money's worth. Oh, it's also very quiet when operating and the sound output is clear and much better quality than some cheaper models that play at a low volume. Samsung is one of the more highly rated electronic giants, and now that I have this machine, I can see why
