THE USB WORKS - 28 Oct 2007

Everything of any relevance has already been said about this machine except.....
the USB socket.
It Works!
Says in the handbook that it will only read MP3 files. Dumped some onto a memory stick and tried it. Yes they worked. Now the big one. Transfered a DiVX and an Avi file to the memory stick. Both movies played. No more burning discs! Just drag to memory stick and bung it in the front loading USB socket.
Not multi-region? - 06 Oct 2007

I've found what appears to be the region-free hack for this machine:
1. Power on with no disc (if this fails retry with the tray open)
2. Press Setup and goto the Preference menu
3. Enter 1, 3, 8, 9, 3 and 1
4. Select your required region, use 0 (zero) for region free
Anyone able to say if this works before I commit to buying?
An Excellent player to compliment your HD ready TV. - 27 Sep 2007

For the price this is best Up-scaling stand alone dvd player on the market. Its got all the various connections anyone will ever need HDMI,Scart and composite. It can play multi region disks by sourcing a code from the internet which takes 2 minutes. With regards to other reviewers comments this DVD player should not be compared to a High definition HD or Blu-ray player in regards to picture quality. I have a HD dvd player sitting underneath this one and theres no comparison believe me i'm in the Audio Visual industry, but that doesnt mean its no good the pictures as good as your going to get for the price and you wont be disapointed.A great player to compliment your HD ready Tv until High Def players get more affortable for all.
Better than wasting money on fancy HD dvds - 05 Jun 2007

Got this dvd UPSCALER from a friend to try as i had already an upscaler made by Samsung the 850 and was very very happy with it.
Got this home plug it in via the hmdi and bang pics was 30% better and sound 20% on top of a dvd player i was very very happy with.
Ok lets get down to the boast its as good as HD dvd.
I have a PS3 and as most know its a very good Blue Ray player (sonys version of HD dvd)
Running the new Casino Royale on both and flicking back and forth all i could tell was the text sometimes on screen not as bold as the blue ray disk but im realing just picking here as i cant say its the same but the movie was clear as the blue ray so im not buying sometimes twice the price blue ray if you can pick up most new dvds for £10.
Try it and you will love it just make sure you use hmdi cable(which you shouldnt spend more than £15 onand the upscaling in the settings is set to 1080 if your tv supports it.)
