Very pleased with this - 09 Feb 2006

I had done a fair amount of research before deciding on this Model. Gone round all the usual shops (you know the ones) compared all the features etc etc. To be quite honest was a little bit wary of buying an item like a TV over the web but I must say that I was very impressed.

As far as the TV goes, the 100Mz really makes a difference The picture is as good as (if not better) than a lot of the models I saw in the shops that were £100 - £150 more expensive. The sound is a bit weak but I send this through an external amp anyway so this does not worry me.
From a delivery point of view, it arrived within 3 days. The delivery company phoned before delivery (as advertised) and I got it delivered on a Saturday no problem and no additional cost (turned up first thing which was nice). A lot better service than I normally receive from the big high street retailers (who I have had some problems with in the past not turning up). The only thing that wasn’t done was they did not take the TV out of the box and check it (as it says on the delivery promises page) –but this did not worry me too much (just signed as unchecked).

All in all a good experience and a very excellent TV considering how cheap it was.

Surprisingly good 100Hz from daewoo.... - 30 Jan 2006

The prices of 16:9 TVs have finally dropped beyond comprehension, thanks to Korean suppliers like Daewoo. Quality wise there is no longer any clear advantage between our traditional electronics suppliers and the new arrivals. This purchase is a case in point.

Overall I am impressed with the set, it's got 2 finger slats at the top of the case on the back so it's actually surprisingly easy for one person to get it out of the box - nice touch....It's a slimline concave back, only 50cm at its deepest point [amazingly same as my old sony 21" 4:3], has a slimline appearance, and doesn't appear to be as heavy as other widescreen sets. Build quality is nonetheless sound, and all buttons have a positive quality feel.

Manual is pretty basic, but playing around you can figure most things out. most helpful is a custom widescreen option, where you can fiddle around to preset your favourite stretch, otherwise it does it automatically. There's also a preset option to stretch anamorphic 4:3, a nice touch you wouldn't expect on a budget set.

you can freeze frame any source, and also browse teletext(!) as a separate window. Again, simple low cost add ons you wouldn't expect.

Sound, is fairly average for a TV, but perhaps this is because i'm use to my existing AV setup.

Screen scans at 100Hz, which seems to result in a stable picture. I don't see blur/artefacting that some people report on 100Hz sets. Be careful you're judging the TV and not your source. Some on screen graphics [ie from cable/sky] may flicker, but then they may do this anyway on a conventional set, so not really the fault of the TV. If text appears unclear then lower the contrast/brightness, and everything will be fine. I didn't realise this at first.

For the money you can't really go wrong, delivery from amazon was also prompt and I was always well informed. I give it 4 stars because there could be a few more features [more than one colour preset / widescreen preset] and a bigger manual, but you can't have everything for this price. After a lifetime of sony sets I'm pleasantly surprised with life on the other side.....

A year ago you would have paid £400 or more for a TV as good as this. It's like watching in 3D the picture is so clear.

Just buy it forget the flat screens this is the real picture!
